The Heathcote Wine Region in Victoria, is renowned as one of the best Shiraz growing regions in Australia.

As well as premium Australian Shiraz,

the famous ancient red Cambrian soils of Heathcote produce outstanding examples of Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and in white wines, some excellent Rieslings and Viognier.

Many well known producers located both inside and outside the region, such as Wild Duck Creek, Jasper Hill, Tyrrells, Brown Brothers, Shelmerdine, Hanging Rock and Seppelts, have attained national and international acclaim with their Heathcote Shiraz wines.


The major event on the Heathcote calendar is the Heathcote Wine and Food Festival. An annual celebration of Heathcote wines, great food and local and regional produce.

The 2014 Festival is on October 4th & 5th



Sanguine Estate Shiraz awarded category winner, a gold medal and a top 10 position in World’s Greatest Syrah & Shiraz Challenge

The 2012 Sanguine Estate Progeny Shiraz took out the top honours in the $20 to $25 category, was awarded 7th position in The Judges Top 10 of the challenge - ahead of Penfolds Grange and Henschke Hill of Grace, and was one of only 12 wines to receive a Gold Medal out of a total of 582 Australian and international wines tasted.

Our inaugural Heathcote Wine Show was held on August 2nd and 3rd 2013, celebrating the quality and diversity of our distinctive Victorian wine region, with Sanguine Estate bestowed the ultimate prize - the ‘Heathcote Grand Terroir Trophy’ 2013 - for demonstrating the highest quality and style consistency across three shiraz wines spanning a minimum of four vintages for one singular wine label.
