New Cellar Door comes to High Street, Heathcote

Heathcote Estate, one of Heathcote’s best known shiraz producers has opened its brand new cellar door in the region’s main township. The old bakery building at 98 High Street has been converted into a rustic cellar door and café - offering wine tastings, grazing and light lunches, coffee and a range of beautiful Grossi produce to take home.

Winemaker and General Manager Tom Carson said the opening of the cellar door marked an exciting new era for the vineyard, which was established at a site on nearby Drummonds Lane more than a decade ago. ‘There is a real sense of momentum in Heathcote, with a terrific community of talented food and wine producers and hospitality operators taking the region forward. We’re thrilled to be part of the burgeoning food and wine tourism industry here,’ Tom Carson said. Heathcote Estate cellar door will be managed by Nick Johansen and will have a strong focus on what this great Victorian region does best – Shiraz. To complement this offering, a selection of wines from the estate’s affiliated vineyards is available for tasting and purchase including the Yabby Lake Vineyard and Red Claw wines from the Mornington Peninsula, also owned by the Kirby Family. A relaxed dining area with indoor and outdoor seating including larger communal tables, provides an ideal setting to enjoy laid-back lunchtime fare such as homemade pies and tarts, rustic pizzas, cheese and charcuterie.   Visitors can also browse the range of Grossi produce including pastas, olive oils and Italian sweets or simply drop in for a Lavazza coffee.  Nick and the team are looking forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike.    Heathcote Estate Cellar Door 98 High Street, Heathcote Ph 5433 2488 Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am – 5pmWine tastings – coffee - produce - grazing and light lunchesCellar Door Manager Nick Johansen
