After a few years as the head of Maison Chapoutier in the French Rhône Valley, Michel Chapoutier began his love affair with Australia in 1997.
Passionate about the diversity of extraordinary soils and climates, Michel saw a great potential in Victoria for the creation of distinct expressive wines. M. Chapoutier wines provide a fascinating counterpoint to other Australian wines, often possessing more backbone, a little less alcohol and in the Shiraz, more peppery and minerally characters.
