Armstead Estate Vineyard is centrally located within the Heathcote Wine Region on the Northern banks of Lake Eppalock. We are a small boutique winery dedicated to producing moderate quantities of premium quality wines. Our wines include Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rosé, Marsanne & Sparkling Shiraz.
In 2003, Peter Armstead, the then owner & winemaker, planted the first Shiraz vines by hand in just one weekend with the help of good friends. The vineyard is on an Easterly facing slope over a shallow strip of Cambrian soil just metres from the Lake.
Our Cellar Door, open the first weekend of every month and public holiday from 11am to 5pm, is situated on the historic 1860s property of Wild Duck Farm and is the old Foreman's cottage, which still retains its rustice charm. An intimate wine tasting can be enjoyed on the Cellar Door verandah, whilst soaking up the amazing views of Lake Eppalock and the beautiful, manicured gardens that surround the old homestead.
Tom and Emily, who took over Armstead Estate in July 2017, invite visitors to bring a picnic lunch, buy a bottle of one of their premium wines (or perhaps a crisp and refreshing Armstead Estate Golden Ale), and enjoy the splendid views from the lawn.
