Sergio Carlei makes wine from the heart and in a short time, his passion moved from being an original garagiste in Melbourne sourcing fruit from Heathcote to a full-operational and professional winery in Upper Beaconsfield, producing over 10,000 cases per year.
Sergio believes in environmentally responsible viticulture is the best course for winemaking. Toxic soils leads to improper vine health. Subsequently, cleaner vineyards allow the true flavours in the fruit to be expressed, which results in better- tasting and better balanced wines.
Sergio manages a certified organic vineyard in Heathcote. Carlei Estate will celebrate 25 years of Heathcote winemaking in 2018.
